After a Hiatus……….

19Feb07

Here am i after a long hiatus. My India trip was fabulous. Fabulous with mixed feelings. I was missing home so much, but it was as if it was just another day after that i was returning home when it was actually more than a year. Nothing has changed really. They are the same people, its the same world. Its home after all ! Nothing had really changed , atleast for me !

Thanks to the break at Kaulalampur, it helped me cope my jetlag and i had none. My mom had already made all my favourite foods without me needing to prepare a list. And as i said earlier i fixed my attitude, i was my ownself, however it was. And i did everything i wanted to do. Went to movies and shopping with friends. Had Tea along with a cig in that road side cafe. And paanipuri’s, loads of them. One of the most memorable days was the visit to the place where i had done my undergraduation. Went into the same hostel room i lived and met friends there. Strolled along the same roads with the same friends which once we use to do aimlessly dreaming of the future which we are living in. Met the same old people with the same old smile. Visited relatives, gave gifts blah blah blah, nothing new.

But yes, your attitude may not have changed, but some people’s does really. You may become the victim of the general curiosity that lies among the people about foreign life. Especially when you dont know how to answer the question ‘ How’s life there?’ without actually sitting with them and expalining your life history. And when you answer is ‘ Its ok ‘, that falls too short of an answer, when they’d have expected a much more vivid one. And then comes some wierd questions like ‘Hows India ?’ common for gods sake i was born here. And as if everything has changed by quadraples they start explaining this is the way it happens here.

Ooo now i realize i have some equally witty things to say about how people treat NRIs as opposed to those NRI behaviours πŸ™‚

When can we read about those thoughts? don’t take so long to write them. How are you feeling now? After getting back to “phoren” land once again.
